Every time I go to a salon and tell them I want a change and would like their input on what color and style would look best, they act like I’m crazy. They want me to tell them what I want. How do I get a hair makeover? Is there something I should say? I’ve told them what colors and cuts have looked good on me in the past, explained why I’m not happy with it now. They just give me a blank stare. I’m a hairstylist and i think a lot of stylists are hesitant to do “ whatever!” To someone’s hair because they’ve been burned in the past. A lot of times when people say whatever the client actually has a very long list of things they don’t like- it’s too light, too dark, too long, too short. It’s important to tell the stylist what you want as well as what you don’t want. Personally I'd be terrified of giving total control of my look to someone. I admire the courage.
